Norway Says Open to Deploying Troops to Ukraine
The Nordic nation will play an active role in providing security assurances to Kyiv, Store confirmed to a public broadcaster, as reported by media. Norwegian forces have already begun participating in training initiatives, the prime minister revealed.
"What I am saying now is that Norway will contribute to the efforts needed for these security guarantees. We have already had some of our military personnel working on training," Store stated.
Store disclosed that Nordic-Baltic nations are jointly undertaking responsibility for establishing a Ukrainian brigade. Norwegian military advisors could potentially conduct training operations on Ukrainian soil, he indicated.
However, Store's office clarified to the broadcaster that any such troop presence would only occur after "a credible ceasefire" takes effect.
The prime minister emphasized that Ukraine's long-term security depends fundamentally on building robust defensive capabilities rather than external guarantees alone.
"The most important security guarantee is for Ukraine to have a strong defense. That is why the most important thing we can do to secure Ukraine is to contribute to the training and development of its armed forces," the prime minister added.
